I fell in love with watercolor painting several years ago when introduced to it by master painter and fellow biology colleague, Leo Simone. At that time, I had been a wildlife biologist in Southern California for about 20 years, so expressing myself artistically was a welcome diversion from formal writing and field studies.

My introduction to watercolor painting began with a group of work colleagues, which met once a month in the office kitchen to socialize and paint with Leo; and for a couple years this was my only painting time. Eventually, I began watercolor painting at home to relax and focus on my environment in a new way. In addition, I took photographs while in the field and during my travels, so painting became my catalyst for appreciating nature more deeply and noticing beauty in color and form.

My subjects are the grand views and small details found along life’s path that catch my eye, excite my mind, or move my heart.

I consider painting and dance my two forms of “moving meditation” and I am happy to share the results with you.

My paintings are available in various sizes and on different types of media including canvas, wood, metal, and watercolor paper.
